The government’s Business Link offers help for new operations. Options include: • Business mentoring – a video shows how others used mentoring when starting up and provides information about business mentoring sites.
• Networking – a video shows how to get the most from business networking and find events near you.
• Finding the right support – case study on how a start-up business found the right help and support, and tips on the best way to use outside help.
• Business advice open days – events that new operators can attend. More information on the NICs scheme: www.businesslink.gov.uk/ nicsholiday The organisation Startups offers a range of help on its website, including advice on business investment; ways to fund your business without a bank loan; developing a website; and how to start a business while working.
There is a link to the government scheme, Be Your Own Boss, which offers help to ex-service personnel trying to start their own business. www.startups.co.uk
