Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Last month the Freight Transport Association estimated nearly half its members (46%) are set to miss the Driver CPC deadline (CM 17 November). November’s Trucking Britain survey reinforces this, with more than a quarter (27%) stating none of their drivers have clocked up their first seven hours’ training, while more than a third said none of their drivers have clocked up their second seven hours. There are less than three years left for the full 35 hours of training to be completed.

The good news is that 38% stated that all or nearly all their drivers have completed their first seven hours, while 26% reported that all or nearly all their drivers have completed their second seven hours.

It’s no surprise that the largest fleets have conducted more CPC training than the smaller ones: 52% of fleets with 51 or more vehicles said all or nearly all their drivers have completed their first seven hours, while 34% reported all or nearly all their drivers have completed their second seven; this compares with 22% and 13% respectively among fleets with no more than 10 vehicles.

The story is similar when comparing training by logistics and contract distribution firms with that carried out by hire and reward hauliers.
