Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Everybody knows about the link between properly inflated tyres and fuel economy, and it seems operators are catching on to the benefits of low-rolling resistance tyres too.

These tyres have been successful in numerous tests (including those carried out by CM – see the 2 September 2010 issue, in which we estimated a 3%-plus improvement in economy of a 44tonner).

We asked Trucking Britain respondents: if fuel savings could be guaranteed by fitting low-rolling resistance tyres, would you change your current tyre policy?

The answer from a not entirely resounding 58% was ‘yes’, although just 16% offered a flat ‘no’ in response; the remaining 26% were unsure and are clearly ripe for being convinced of the benefits by tyre suppliers.
