Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A sub-committee of Barnes District Council is to consider a report from the Surveyor (Mr. G. Bruce James) on motor lire-appliances.

Barnet Urban District Council is about to erect a fire station in High Street, Barnet, and we understand that consideration will be extended to the likely use of motor fire-engines.

Chester's new fire station, on which no less than E3,000 is to be spent, will, it is hoped locally, house at least one motor engine, although we learn that. no decision to that end has yet been taken by the City Council.

We hear good reports of the Merryweather " Fire King" steam fireengine in the hands of the Rangoon Brigade. It has a delivery capacity of 400 gallons per minute, and is under the charge of Superintendent Bateman.

Superintendent James Trimble, the head of the Londonderry Fire Brigade, recently advised us of a ceremonial parade of his old ShandMason manual engine, alongside a mod ern Merryweather motor fire

engine, in aid of the local lifeboat fund. We are promised a photograph for reproduction, and shall hope for its early arrival.

Superintendents and captains of are brigades should not overlook the facts, that motor lire-engines and motor ambulances pay no carriage duty under the new Finance Act.

800 Gallons per Minute.

The Auckland Fire Board has on order a Leviathan motor fire-pump. It will be supplied by Dennis Bros., Ltd., of Guildford, and will have a delivery capacity of 800 gallons per minute at a pressure of 150 lb. on the sq. in. Critics of the centrifugal pump will probably "dry up" when they learn that such a specification can be met. Three-stage impellors are to be employed.
