LINCOLNSHIRE ASSOCIATION AMALGAMATES WITH A.R.O.
As forecast in last week's issue of The Commercial Motor, the Lincolnshire Transport Association has decided to amalgamate with A.R.O.. This decision was made at representative meetings of the Lincolnshire Association at Lincoln and Scunthorpe. Subareas are being allotted to Lincoln and Scunthorpe, whilst A.R.O. already has a sub-area at Boston, which will become a part of the joint organization.
We understand that a separate office will be set up at Scunthorpe, with its own local executive. It will keep in direct touch with the A.R.O. area offise in Nottingham.
The Lincolnshire Transport Association was formed in 1931 by road operators in Scunthorpe, and the organization now covers the whole of Lincolnshire. The chairman of the southern section of the area is Mr. J. G. Hunt, Mr. J. G. Clugston has acted as chairman of the special committee which negotiated the amalgamation for Scunthorpe, with the assistance of Mr. Ablett, retiring chairman or the Association, and Messrs. Slater,and Coombs, prominent local operators.
Mr. Jesse Hind, secretary of the Lincolnshire Transport! Association, at Lincoln, will continue to hold that cffice.
A.R.O. Conference to Follow Annual Luncheon.
After the annual luncheon of A.R.O., which is to be held at Grosvenor House, London, W.1, on July 12, the annual general meeting of the Association will take place at 3 p.m. It is understood that the meeting will be concerned only with formal business and it is to be followed at about 3.15 p.m. by a conference, at which the main problems of the industry will be discussed.
Big Operators Join C.M.U.A.
Several large operators have recently joined the C.M.U.A., including Harrods, Ltd., Aerated Bread Co., Ltd., and Allied Suppliers, Ltd.
