• TNT has announced several ventures for 1988, which is its tenth year in Britain.
Plans include the expansion of the express services, including TNT Overnite, TNT Same day and TNT Parcel Office. More deliveries will be handled by jet aircraft, and established services such as Datapost and Red Star will be challenged by the rapid development of the TNT Supermail service.
Further investment in TNT's computer system is planned, with the Birmingham Computer Centre co-ordinating all TNT movements.
The birthday will also be marked by the opening of the new multi-million-pound headquarters in Atherstone. TNT's plans for growth are backed by its latest figures: turnover has increased from 24 million per week in February 1987 to nearly 26 million per week so far this year.
