Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

J. Rostock and1-1 Sons, Congleton, to ,revise fares, Increase their vehicle allowance, and run extra excursions were granted by the North Western Traffic Commissioners on Monday, although strong opposition to them was made.

Mr. E. J. Rostock explained that he wished to run four vehicles at week-ends instead of three, and five at holiday times instead of three, because Congleton's population was increasing. It was impossible to .meet demands with the present allowance.

Mr. G. H. P. Beames, for the railways, and Mr. J. Green for the North Western Road Car Co., Ltd., who objected, said that the present allowance was generous for a small town like Congleton. Figures submitted by Mr. Bostock did not justify extra vehicles.

Mr. J. Appleton, for Wells Motor Services, Ltd., who also objected. said that his clients offered services similar to those of the applicants, and there was no point in adding to facilities. There had been no demands for extra services.

Mr. H. Robinson. for the applicants, submitted that the proposed increases were reasonable. There was no strong objection to the fares revision or the additional excursions.

The Commissioners added a vehicle to the allowance for week-ends and general holidays.

NORTH WESTERN TO RUN FROM CONGLETON THE North Western Traffic Corn1 missioners on Monday allowed the

North Western Road Car Co., Ltd., to run an excursion from Congleton to Aberstwyth, and to five other points, if no objections concerning them were lodged before April 23, the expiry date.

The company originally sought 13 destinations, including Llandudno, Rosson-Wye, Stratford and Windermere, but Mr. E. J. Rostock, of Messrs. E. J. Rostock and Sons, Congleton, objected that he ran to eight of them, catered for all demands, and could see no reason why another concern should run similar facilities.

Mr. W. Woolley, an assistant traffic manager of North Western, said that the application had been lodged because agents had received inquiries about .excursions to the destinations listed. Mr. Rostock did not oppose excursions by the company to five of them.
