TANKERS with aluminium, mild-steel
or stainless-steel bodywork are now being made by Bonallack and Sons, Ltd., Basildon, Essex. Entry of the company into this field is represented by a 2,000gal, tanker based on an A.E.C. Mercury chassis built for Shell-Mex and B.P., Ltd. The elliptical steel tank is 16 ft. long and is divided into four compartments.
A Stothert and Pitt reversible-flow pump and Emco accessories are fitted. Special features are 5-in.-diameter footvalves for rapid discharging, but 21-in. valves may be fitted if required. The tank is lined with Epikote and is supported by bearers on the chasiss frame.
