MAY DAY bank holiday weekend will witness the annual historic commercial vehicle run from Battersea Park to Brighton, sponsored this year by Wincanton Transport as part of an "extravaganza" from May 1-2 promoted by Iveco (US).
The event will be nothing if not varied. A large display of steam vehicles will accompany a Slimathon supported by Woman's Own magazine in aid of Save the Children Fund. A firework display is to be part of the Greater London Council's participation — not altogether unexpected having regard to its leaders' tendency towards the spectacular — and a freefall parachute descent may help to take the public's mind off the forced fares ascent.
Ivaco promises three days of interest and fun which should be more than welcome to dispirited Londoners.
