Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

OPERATORS of 503 12m Leyland Leopard coaches built between 1972 and 1981 should have them checked in case their spare wheel carriers have become weakened.

The vehicles affected are Plaxton-bodied examples (body numbers 7 9 1 2 LCO 0 1-0 9 4, 8012LC001-093, 8112LC001-069, 8112LVX951) built between 1978 and 1981, and 268 Duple-bodied examples built between 1972 and 1981.

Plaxton recommends that operators reweld cracks and fit their own gussets. Duple recommends that operators fit replacement and additional bolts, drill into the carrier, and reweld fatigue points.

The Department of Transport is particularly keen to trace secondhand examples of these vehicles.
