CHANCELLOR Nigel Lawson gave a 11125 million boost to the road-building programme over the next two years when he unveiled the Government's latest spending plans this week.
An extra t54 million is be
ing added to the road-building budget for national and local roads in the coming financial year, and a further 01 million the year after.
Transport Secretary Nicholas Ridley said overall government spending is being increased by just over five per cent next year, but spending on national and local roads will increase by more than 10 per cent.
The plans include a 15 per cent increase for local authority spending.
