HM CUSTOMS and Excise arc to go to the Divisional Court after Fleetwood magistrates upheld an appeal by Irish hauliers George Dennison Transport against a penalty of £600 imposed for cabotage.
For Dennison John Backhouse said the company had brought an Irish registered tractive unit in at Holyhead and taken it to Hinckley, Leicestershire, where the firm bought two semi-trailers. The tractive unit was used to haul the empty trailers one at a time to Fleetwood ready for loading to the ferry for Ireland.
At that stage, he said, the Customs seized the vehicle
