RICARDO's annual report for 1984 shows that the principal growth in the company's business during the last 12 months has been in the Far East, particularly the People's Republic of China and South Korea.
Chairman Sir Diarmuid Downs reports that Ricardo's business with China has expanded with contracts worth £4m. The Shoreham, Sussexbased consulting engineering company signed its first contract with China eight years ago.
Ricardo has helped with design and development work in Far Eastern countries on a wide range of engines, from small industrial and agricultural units to large locomotive engines.
The chairman's statement for last year reveals that the company's pre-tax profits remained at around £1.6m.
This year is the centenary of the birth of Sir Harry Ricardo the founder of Ricardo Consulting Engineers.
