NEW LIGHTING and ventilation equipment is to be installed in the Rotherhithe Tunnel under the Thames, The Greater London Council's planning and communications committee has approved the £1.8m plan to start in the middle of next year.
The work will mean the closure of the tunnel for about seven months. The GLC says this will coincide with road improvements at the southern approach to the Rotherhithe Tunnel.
