"Each vehicle on our truck park now costs at least £5 in interest charges on borrowed money each day,Alan Crombie comptroller of Seddon Atkinson, reveals in an issue of Truckman devoted to a financial report for employees and distributors. It is the kind of statistic that ought to make ever wrecker of Britain's economy sit up.
Barney White, md, wearing the hair shirt that he donned at the RHA's conference, declares: "The need for change at Seddon Atkinson is widely recognised," adding that "Seddon Atkinson's performance was below that achieved by a number of our top competitors. Notably our costs are still higher than they should be."
Even so, he is "confident that we can become the market leader in medium and heavyduty lorries."
