NORTHAMPTONSI-11 County Council has reviewed the past nine mo operation of its spons( Lilbourne Minibus Schem4 Its minibus advisory c mittee has now acclaimed service a success after hea that the service income is sufficient for the repaymei capital cost — twice as rr as originally required.
The initial target for minibus operation was to vide sufficient income to ci operating costs, plus oneof capital costs every months.
Run by volunteer driN the Lilbourne Minibus vides the only bus serv from three villages in north-west corner of / thamptonshire. The volun drivers all come from the 1 est village, Lilbourne, and vide five services each we Rugby from Lilbourne Winwick. Other services school services are providE required. Private hire j, neys for local residents also undertaken.
Fares on the service wer in 1977 as though the ser had been provided by a I operator and frozen at that level ever since. They to be increased by twopeni 1979 to help build up a sur towards a new minibus IA it is needed in about ti years.
Maintenance of the mini which is licensed as a pt service vehicle, is superv by National Bus Comp subsidiary United Coun which also trains the vol eer drivers.
