VOLVO has announced that it intends to increase production at its Scottish plant to around 1,350 chassis this year. According to Volvo Trucks (Great Britain) Ltd, this is part of the sales drive to achieve around 15 per cent penetration in the six-wheel sector and 25 per cent of the eight-wheel market with its F7 models.
Two examples of the range will be on show at the RHA Tipper Conference at Harrogate in April. An 8x4 chassis in the livery of Alfred Hymas Ltd will feature the F version of the TD70 engine rated at 162kW (217bhp). The body is a 23 cum (30cuyd) fixed-side welded aluminium design from Telehoist, who also provided the tipping gear.
The second F7, which will be on show with a Mackworth aluminium body for aggregate or stone, is powered by the G version of the TD70 engine.
