In reply to your correspondent, B. M. White of Bexley, (CM October 25), in answer to his question: "Has anyone taken into account the drivers' wages?", the answer is in the affirmative. The Transport and General Workers' Union has laid down a policy at national level for a basic 40-hour rate of £48.00. This has been increased to £52.80 in the case of transporter and trailer drivers, who call earn over £100 per week.

No driver should work for less.

A. D. LAW, Regional Trade Group Secretary, Transport and General Workers' Union.
