Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

IN THE WAKE of the Scottish lorry drivers' settlement, now adopted in the Newcastle area and expected to provide a national "norm" for NFC and RHA employers, white-collar grades in BRS and associated companies have expressed strong fears as to the corrosion of differentials.

Mr George Henderson, national secretary of ACTS — the TGWU clerical and

supervisory section — has warned the NFC management that his membership is "sick and tired of being taken for granted and unless something positive is not forthcoming very soon, it can be anticipated there will be widespread industrial unrest amongst our ACTS membership".

ACTS want the position of lower paid clerical workers to be looked at sympathetically and the union points out the worsening position of white-collar grades in relation to bluecollar Operating and Ancillary grades.

It is understood that the NPC management expects to be in a position soon to negotiate pay increases for the clerical grades affected. In this belief, Mr Henderson has asked his membership to withhold any contemplated militant action.
