TRANSPORT and General Workers Union Scottish commercial group secretary Peter Talbot has called for the union to block any moves by the Road Haulage Association to put wage negotiations on a national level.
And the Scottish commercial trade group has submitted a resolution to the union's delegate conference due to be held next month calling for the block.
The resolution stresses that any bid to introduce a statutory Joint Industrial Council to negotiate wages throughout the industry should be opposed.
Mr Talbot explained that there is a possibility that employers in the industry might try to put pressure on the Government to have the council set up.
