TWO PARTNERS IN a West Yorkshire firm threatened a vehicle examiner with violence then failed to appear at a Leeds disciplinary inquiry.
As a result of these and other offences, they have lost their licence and been disqualified from holding or obtaining an 0-licence in any traffic area for an indefinite period.
Juwad and Anjam Rashid held a one-vehicle licence trading as Second Choice Furniture, of Leeds. The pair were called before North-Eastern Traffic Commissioner Tom Macartney.
The TC said there was no documentation to show that the vehicle had been inspected at the promised 12-weekly intervals. There were no records of driver defect reports or safety inspection reports.
Despite several requests over a long time,there was no evidence that records were being kept. The firm had been asked to demonstrate adequate financial resources of 13,100 by 1 November and had failed to respond.
The TC said he could not fault the vehicle examiner who had patiently asked to see the partners. not just on the day he called by appointment but also when he gave them time for the documentation to be forwarded.
That was aggravated by the partners being aggressive to the point of offering violence to a vehicle examiner. He considered that the partners were not fit to hold an 0-licence.
