Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

10 PARAPHRASE Mark fwain:"Your reports of ERF's Jeath are greatly exaggerated."

Your excellent roadtest report )f our ERE ECT 8x4's recordpreaking performance (CM 1 December) was marred only by your unfounded insistence that this may be the last ERF you 2ver test.

Similarly, your equally ;pee ulative and inaccurate leadline,"End of the line for ERF", does no service to either :he massive efforts MAN-ERF UK has put behind the brand Jr the loyalty of many fine UK Pperators. That Cummins has yet to tell the world whether it will offer OEMs an ISME Euro-4 solution (I think we've all guessed the answer) shouldn't detract from the fact that, some nine months ago, we acted to ensure ERF operators will have a reliable and proven solution way beyond the Euro-4 deadline.

That solution, of course. is our D20 engine, with its built-in, ureafree, EGR technology. And, as you have kindly acknowledged in CM on many occasions, the MAN D20 is a more than effective replacement for the Cummins engines that helped make ERF's reputation over the years.

Indeed, there are many who say today's line-up constitutes the best ERF trucks ever built.

So let's he very clear about the future of ERE as a brand. It is not MAN-ERF UK. and certainly not Commercial Motor magazine, that will decide the brand's future.

As we've said all along, while operators wish to maintain ERF in their fleets we will continue to do everything in our power to give them that option.

ERF as a brand may no longer have the individuality of former years— years which, it might be argued, did little to ensure the continuation of the brand— hut while operators continue to take pride in having ERFbranded trucks in their fleets, we will continue to take pride in supporting them.
