This is achieved in a special design with an adjusting screw forward of the normal holding position and a spring loaded single-lever action capable of producing clamping forces of one tonne. Despite this dramatic performance the grip can be opened by flicking the release lever with one finger.

The feature enables irregular shapes including angle iron and rolled sections to be gripped to great effect.
