TRANSPORT Secretar Nicholas Ridley has given tl go-ahead to a Glasgow-Ai drie commuter coach servic despite allegations that would take revenue fro: British Rail.
The case was unusual as tf service was already bein operated as a contract servil by a small independent, Brul of Airdrie, before it applit for a road service licence at appealed against its refusal. continued to run as such aft the licence application was r fused.
The appeal inspector sai he saw nothing wrong wit this and thought it reasonab that if the application was n fused the stalus quo shoul continue.
He also considered that fa abstraction from British Rz would be the same if the nelicence were allowed or ti contract service continued.
