Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

UK-BASED haulage and freight firms now have easier access to France and the Netherlands following an extension of the toll-free International 0800 phone service last month, according to British Telecom International.

For the first time, customers in these countries can make a direct call to a UKbased firm to make transport arrangements at no cost to themselves, with the UK company paying for the call.

BTI says that Denmark, Germany and Sweden will probably join the service soon and that the service is already available between the UK and the USA.

BTI says that the special toll-free number, prefixed 05 in France and 06 in the Netherlands, can feature in advertisements, brochures or direct mail from UK haulage and freight firms. Hauliers can test overseas markets without appointing overseas agents, it says.

Each International 0800 number costs £50 per month rental, plusa user charge of 48p a minute from France, and 45p from the Netherlands. The average charge reduces with volume use.

BTI claims that in the USA up to 30 per cent more orders arc generated by advertisements carrying toll free numbers.

More information is available from International 0800, British Telecom International, Holborn Centre, 120 Holborn, London EC1N 5TE or by ringing 0800 8908(X).
