Mercedes' Actros Titan SLT 8x4 runs a torque converter transmission, with an integrated retarder that sits between the converter and release clutch. A lock-up clutch within the converter adds to the flexibility of the driveline, running through a 16-speed rangechange transmission with overdrive. Up front, engine outputs are 537hp and 609hp from the firm's 0M502 V8, and the range extends from 6x4 to 6x6 and even 8x6, all of which can be rated at a maximum 250 tonnes.
