Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Keywords : Bogie

Dal has put a toe in the heavy haulage waters with its latest XF105 Super Space model, but tends to favour the FIT 6x4 for the UK market.

"We offer an FTM 8x4 variant, but it is left-hand drive only; it tends to suit operators on the Continent, where axle loadings are lower than in the UK," says Daf product manager Phil Moon.

The two models can be equipped with air or steel doubledrive bogies, although weights determine which system has to be adopted. "Air can go to 13 tonnes per axle, while steel springs manage 16.5 tonnes," says Moon.

Potential customers who don't want the additional weight or components of a double-drive bogie can opt instead for a 6x2 FTS tag-lift on both CF and XF models with a single hub-reduction drive axle, which is recommended for use up to Special Types Cat 2, at 80 tonnes.
