Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

not covered by EU drivers' hours rules must take "adequate" rest.

Although the amount of rest is not specif ied, there is a driving limit of 10 hours in any period of 24 hours. Offroad driving is not included, but counts towards a "duty" limit of 11 hours in any 24 hours.

'Duty' covers any time spent on duty as a driver —the limit doesn't apply to non-drivIng days. Part-time drivers who drive for no more than four hours a day in any one week do not need to observe the hours rules for that week: in effect they can ignore the daily duty limit.

But if they drive for more than four hours on just one of those days, the limits apply for the whole week. So if they drive less than four hours on days one to four, but have taken advantage of the rules to work for more than 11 hours, they will break the law if they drive for five hours on day f ive.
