P. G. Crook, 34, has been appointed deputy general manager and chief traffic officer of Derby Corporation Transport. Mr. Crook has been traffic superintendent with Burton Corporation since February 1963 and was previously chief traffic assistant with Chesterfield Corporation.

Ronald Schofield has been appointed group sales director and has joined the board of Northern Land Contractors Ltd., which is associated with the London and Northern Securities construction and haulage group.

D. S. Deacon has been elected chairman of the National Committee on Road Transport Education in succession to Raymond Birch who resigned at the end of June after 21 years as chairman. Mr. Deacon is a member of the council of the Tilling Association and chairman of the Hants and Dorset, Thames Valley, Brighton, Hove and District and Southern Vectis companies. He is also a member of the council of the Institute of Transport and of the Road Transport Industry Training Board.

The Yorkshire Traction Co. Ltd. announces that B. W. France, has been appointed secretary / accountant as from August 1 in succession to C. V. L. Lee, who recently resigned to take up an appointment outside the BET Group. Mr. France is assistant accountant of the Aldershot and District Traction Co. Ltd.

Alderman W. G. E. Dyer, is now new chairman and Alderman Sir Sidney P. Hill. vice-chairman of Nottingham City transport committee.

E. Leslie Marshall has been appointed general manager, North and West, Hertz truck rental division and Torben Jarlbaek general manager, South.

OBITUARY

We regret to record the deaths of Mr. W. L. Norton and Mr. Frank Anderson.

Mr. Norton had been with Hepworth and Grandage Ltd., manufacturers of Hepolite engine components, Bradford, Yorkshire, for almost 34 years. Since 1946 he had been original equipment and fleet operators' technical representative, and he was working up to the time of his death.

For some time chief buyer for the Perkins Engines Group, Peterborough, Mr. Anderson, died suddenly while on holiday in Italy. He was 53 and joined Perkins 15 years ago.
