MARY BERG has become chief economist for the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. She takes over from Wilfred Bucknall who has retired.
Mrs Berg joined SMMT on January 1, 1982 as senior economist from the Economic Directorate of the Confederation of British Industry, She also sits on the technical committee of the British Road Federation. As head of the SMMT economic department, she will be actively concerned with forecasting and taxation.
