'RI MROSE has .nnouneed four surprise xhibits for Earls Court. First, it has launched a QS egmental production kit vhich is designed to bring rerigerated bodybuilding vithin the scope of the mailer bodybuilder.
Prefabricated open-ended ,ox sections, jig-built for ccurate construction and lade up from a steel framepork with a 13.8 mm (4.2in) lick layer of urethane foam lad on both sides with luminium sheet, are bolted )gether end-to-end to form todules of varying length. The front section has a ulkhead designed to accept .andard refrigeration units 'Ink the rear section has full size triple-sealing insulated doors. The segments are supplied in 1.2m (3.910 and 1.5m (4.9ft) lengths allowing construction of bodies between 5.5m (18ft) and 12.2m (40ft) long.
A typical 12.2m (40ft) semi-trailer would have an internal width of 2.2m (7.4ft) and a height of 2.2m (7.3ft) and would weigh about 6.4 tonnes (6.3 tons) depending on equipment fitted.
The company also shows a system for building semitrailer chassis by the use of a similar technique. Prefabricated chassis form sections of predetermined length are used to construct platform, skeletal or tipper chassis in a wide range of lengths.
Each section consists of the two main-members complete with cross-bearers and one bolster section, with the option of a ready-fitted side rave for platform models. Alternatively, a continuous length side rave can be added when the frame is assembled.
When all the segments have been bolted together a 101min (4in) by 12.7mm (0.5in) hts bar is bolted along and beneath the main. members to give the assembly rigidity.
Thirdly, and for maximum versatility between demounting systems Primrose offers four chassis-mounted hydraulically operated jacks which swing out to locate with sockets on the demounting legs. The system lifts the body by lifting its legs until they can be locked in the raised position. Extending legs are available for systems which do not use two-piece telescopic support legs.
Primrose's other surprise is a hydraulic tail-lift from its mechanical handling division. The power unit and hydraulic ram are located beneath the vehicle or trailer and can be used with a number of body-mounted tail lift units on containers or demountable bodies. A 1.5 tonne capacity version will be on stand 155.
