REATER Glasgow PTE has ,acted angrily to local press iticism of it as "the greatest ty-to-day enemy of the worng class".
Alleging that routeanning owed little to demo-aphic changes in Glasgow, le newspaper report said: Coo many buses are still fol'wing old tramway routes. here are peripheral areas of ew housing that are still idly served."
It added: "There is an image f the PTE as a clumsy, heedss soviet of the type found in ie less efficient countries of astern Europe."
Director general Andrew icKay replied: "It would be ointless to answer the vague nd unsubstantiated Dmments which are made, rid much more profitable to oint to the positive and )1-ward-looking steps which ie PTE has and is taking to istain and upgrade a public :ansport system."
"We have introduced over le last four or five years a Duntless number of new and djusted services which are haped to meet the everhanging industrial and social atterns of the city, particutrly in the large housing esites."
