A PUBLIC company with a capital of £750,000 should be formed under the auspices of the Uganda Development Corporation to take over transport services in the Protectorate west of the Nile. The Governmen; should hold 51 per cent. of the shares.
These recommendations were made in an official report on road conditions in Uganda. Initially, it stated, the services of the Uganda Transport Co. and the Buganda Bus Co. should be taken over; the new undertaking should also operate the facilities of the Kampala Municipal Bus Service.
Existing passenger vehicles, said the report, were unsuitable. Buses should be larger and have oil engines.
