Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

M1 Service Grant Open to Review

rACEO with the difficult problem of I railway reorganization causing congestion on 1541 coach services, the West Midland Traffic Commissioners have granted the application of the Birmingham and Midland Motor Omnibus Co., Ltd., for additional vehicles between Birmingham and London, but have left their decision open to review if there is a marked increase in rail services.

They also rejected the proposed new principle that, where motorway services compete with rail, there should be parity in fares. This argument, wherever put forward, should be strenuously opposed as inimical to the economic welfare of the coach industry. It is a new and insidious plea that has been made rather late in the day.

• The Commissioners, in conformity with what now appears to be general policy, have also intimated that they expect the company to refrain from linking to the south coast with the motorway vehicles.
