The new engine has a capacity of 152 cu. in. Special features for its designed operation include a waterjacketed exhaust manifold, and head, gasket and cylinder-head fixing stud holes machined to comply with Buxton certificate requirements, wide joint facings on the cylinder head for mounting the induction flame trap, and fuel atomizer seatings arranged to conform with the regulations.

Long bore life is assured by the use of chromium-plated steel liners. A rotary fuel pump is fitted as standard and the pre-finished main crankshaft and bigend bearings are replaceable. The engine can be installed in a machine 3 ft. wide and 3 ft. 5 in. high.

It is already in use as the power unit of the Hunslet MT 25 mines tractor, which operates near the coal face, where dust and methane gas may be encountered. In this application, the engine develops 29 b.h.p. at 1,650 r.p.m.
