Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

AN application to run a direct coach service from Swindon to Weymouth on Saturdays and Sundays throughout the summer by G. J. Miller, Love Lane Garage, Cirencester, was " reluctantly " refused by the Western Traffic Commissioners at Bristol last week.

Objectors included Wilts and Dorset Motor Services, Ltd., Associated Motorways, Southern National Omnibus Co., Ltd., Bristol Omnibus Co., Ltd., and British Railways, all of whom said that they already provided services between the two points.

Mr. Miller said existing services involved a change of coach at Salisbury: the rail service also meant one change on weekdays and two on Sundays. His proposed fare of 27s. 6d. was 7s. less than the rail fare and his running time was nearly an hour less.

The Commissioners said it would be wrong to grant a licence until the services of Associated Motorways had been given a more extended trial. In addition, the railways provided satisfactory facilities.
