Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

to be manufactured by Karrier Motors, Ltd., Karrier Works, Huddersfield. will be most comprehensive, including goods and passenger models of different types and sizes and many useful municipal motors. The Colt and Cob types of three-wheeler, which have recently made their appearance and have been described in our columns, will form two of the new models in the schedule, in addition to the Monitor four-wheeled doubledeck bus.

On the ,.roods-carrying side the company is building chassis for carrying loads ranging from two tons to 12 tons, and in the design of these chassis engine efficiency has generally been increased, -with a resultant improvement in petrol

c46 and oil consumptions, whilst on certain models the gain in horse-power is as much as 20 per cent, All Karrier goods-carrying chassis, with the exception of three-wheelers, can be supplied with either solid or pneumatic tyres ; each pneumatic-tyred chassis incorporates an electric-lighting set as part of the standard equipment.

The four important additions to the company's 1930 programme will continue to be made, these being the MO type of subsidy six-wheeler, which is built for carrying a 5-ton load over roads or three tons across rough country and, whilst retaining many characteristics of its prototype—the WOO model —is more sturdily constructed and equipped with a more powerful engine; a 5-ton forward-drive four-wheeler listed as the GH5, a feature of which

is manceuvrability; the KW1 ninetonner, which is a rigid-framed sixwheeler, and an unique tractor chassis designated the TT model, this being intended for hauling Karrier 6-ton or 1&ton trailers.

The last-named incorporates a medium-powered engine and an eight-speed gearbox. The type of trailer used is automatically coupled to the tractor. The TT model has a turning circle as low as 20 ft., so that it is ideally suitable for operating in restricted areas.

The popular K-type models now carry loads of six tons, seven tops arid. 12 tons respectively, the first two named being able to haul trailers. The introdection of the Colt and Cob three-wheelers provides a good example of the pioneer work •undertaken by Karrier Motors, Ltd. Unusual manceuvrability is a feature of each model, which can turn in a 16-ft. circle, whilst the low loading height and the efficient and economical power unit employed should commend this type to the notice of users of horse-drawn vehicles.

Whilst the Colt two-tonner may be used as a lorry, van or tipper, the Cob is intended to form the tractor portion of an articulated five-wheeled three-tontier. Trailers are attached by means of an automatic coupling gear, the brakes being synchronized with those of the tractor. A point of importance is that the Cob will haul any existing dray or van by simply removing the shafts, so that serviceable equipment need not be scrapped.

To the range of passenger vehicles introduced in 1930, a new 50-seater four-wheeled double-decker has been added. This is known as the Monitor and embodies in its design a Karrier sixcylindered side-valve engine. Features of the power unit include a special cylinder head, a ten-bearing crankshaft

having a vibration damper, a high-lift camshaft, tappets of large diameter, twin exhaust manifolds and special crankcase breathers.

The other passenger models in the range include the Coaster, Chaser. Clipper and Consort, some being fourwheelers and others six-wheelers, ranging from 26-seaters to 68-seaters.

In addition to the well-known range of municipal machines, which includes sweepers and collectors, gully-emptiers, street washers and refuse tippers, an improved dustless refuse collector is now available.
