In a High Court writ issued in London, G W Swift (Hull) claims damages against Melrowand and its employee, P Cresswell, following an accident on 26 November 1986.

G W Swift of "Lion Works", Wincolmlee, Hull, claims that its employee, George Hoe, was driving along a contraflow on the A34 dual carriageway near West Ilsley when the accident occurred.

The writ states that an artic driven in the opposite direction by Cresswell jackknifed and crossed the centre of the road, colliding with Hoe, who was fatally injured.

The writ asserts that Melrowand of Beal Hall, Manor Road, Beal, near Goole, North Humberside, negligently allowed Cresswell, of Queen Street, Pontefract, West Yorkshire, to drive a vehicle with defective brakes.
