• Leyland Daf returned to first position in the truck and artic registration league last month with sales of 366 units for its first month out of receivership.
Truck and artic registrations were down 3.4% overall, compared with July 1992, according to the latest figures from the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders, with 1,423 vehicles registered, compared with 1,473 in the same month last year.
Rival Net-0 Ford remains in first position for truck sales so far this year with sales up 19% on last year.
"We are well ahead in the market leadership stakes. Leyland Daf will not be able to close the gap," says a spokesman for Iveco Ford.
Sales went down in July because many rental company customers preferred to wait for Lregistered vehicles on 1 August and a sales campaign had ended in June, he says.
