PLANS for the introduction of Romanian-built city buses into EE countries were unveiled at this month's Hanover Industrial Fair.
An importer has already been appointed in Germany for the DA 117 UD articulated bus which in its standard version is powered b the RABA 141kW engine (MAN-licence built in Hungary), and cost around £40,000.
Standard of finish and interior trim in this version do not compar favourably with vehicles built in the West, and as the engine ratin for a 23 tonnes gvw unit is thought inadequate an agreement ha been reached with DAF to supply the DKTL 1160 185kW engine fc the Rumanian-built bus.
Other options are the Voith D851 transmission and higher qualit seating for the 16.5m long 147-passenger vehicle. The first DAF fitted demonstration unit is expected to be available this month.
