AS from October 18, the basic ration of fuel for goods vehicle's is to be reduced by one-fifth. That for publicservice vehicles was discontinued on September 19, the whole issue of fuel for the latter vehicles now being at the discretion of the Regional Transport Commissioners. •
No supplementary rations for the purposes of retail delivery will be granted unless applicants can show that the goods are essential to the maintenance of the war effort or of the life of the community,' that they must be delivered by road, and _that all reasonable steps have been taken by the groups to which they belong to pool their vehicles where this is practicable or to rationalize their use. Much remains to be done before it can be said, that full advantage has been taken of the group " system of delivery.
