Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Paul Brockington's report on the technical symposium of the Associated Engineering Group at Dunchurch Industrial Staff College (CM, June 26) includes a reference attributed to me about the introduction of a turbocharged Perkins diesel engine in September of this year.

While it is a fact that Perkins is to introduce such an engine, unfortunately the ratings quoted in your report are incorrect.

The new engine is being designed to develop 155 bhp at 2600 rpm and NOT 55 bhp at 2800 rpm as reported.

C. J. HIND Director, Group Engineering, Perkins Engines Group, Peterborough.
