SPOT checks on good vehicles in the Midlands foun that 40 per cent of the lord( weighed were overloaded.
The checks were carried oi by Staffordshire Count Council's weights and mea ures department.
Out of 59 vehicles weigh( 25 were found to be exceedir either the maximum permitu gross weight or the ax weight. A weights and mea ures department spokesmi. told CM that none of the lc ries were foreign registered the usual bad overloadit offenders.
The council blamed pressu of work in the weights al measures department for t increase in overloadii offences.
