alcclm Banks, president of the eight Transport Association, operly criticises the sweeping iwers of objection to 0-licence applications on environmental grounds which the Foster report recommends. He dismisses the argument that objectors would not use that right as a method of organised opposition to lorries and few operators would suffer.
Why give people power that they are not expected to use? The anti-road lobby has shown beyond peradventure that those with Tyme on their hands will use every legal device to make mischief. The prospect of licensing inquiries becoming minor riots is not to be welcomed.
