LAN WESTWELL, Tayside Region's director of public transort, is to be Greater Glasgow PTE's director general.

A special sub-committee of Strathclyde Regional Council rade their unanimous choice last week, and the Highways and ransportation Committee was expected to endorse Mr Westell's appointment yesterday (Thursday). Liverpool-born Mr Westwell worked in the bus industry r 20 years, and has held sen r management posts in Merysioe, Lancashire, Coventry, id Glasgow where he was Lief angineer from 1971 until s move to Tayside in 1974.

He succeeds the late Anew McKay who was killed Lrlier this year in a car :cident. The post carries a lary of around £18,000.

Richard Roberts, coaching ector of the National Bus Company, is moving to become regional director for Wales and the Marches. He will succeed John Niblock who retires at the end of September.

Meanwhile another longserving bus man has taken up a new post with NBC. Fred Dark, general manager of Ribble Motor Services since 1977 has been named as new group executive of NBC's South Eastern region. He succeeds Geoffrey Smith, who retired at the end of July.
