BUS UNION leaders at Coventry have given full support to a call to withdraw union cards from trade unionists convicted of attacks on crews.

Coventry, this week singled out as the most violent city in the West Midlands, has fought a long campaign against bus attacks.

The secretary of the city's bus crews branch, Mr M. Sakaria, said recently: "We have always thought that the fines imposed by courts were not enough to deter this violence.

"If a man's union card is withdrawn, he would probably lose his job. That would be a much better deterrent than the courts."
