Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A SMALL road haulage company in Hertfordshire is setting up an organisation to help other similar small general haulage companies.

Furnell Transport of Hemel Hempstead says the aim of the organisation is to pool local knowledge and help the smaller hauliers to help themselves. This would include cooperation on back-loads, contacting other operators for help with difficult jobs or problems away from base.

David Furnell, managing director of Furnell Transport, told CM that a register would be compiled from the information on the application forms detailing local vehicle repairers, breakdowns and recovery operators and drivers' accommodation. This information, plus the names of the other members would be in a handbook issued to each company.

Any small general haulage companies (up to around 20 vehicles) interested in joining this proposed mutual-aid organisation should contact Furnell Transport, Ebberns House, Ebberns Road, Hemel Hempstead, Herts, telephone Hemel Hempstead 55244 or 55848.
