PATENT No. 890,845 deals with refu collecting vehicles and discloses improvement in the rear loading di thereof. The aim is to prevent wit borne dust when emptying a wide (Ey sity of bin. (Dennis Bros.; L Woodbridge Works, Woodbridge H Guildford.)

The drawing shows a section of rear loading hopper. A frame (I) si ports a canopy in which the door swings. The door consists of a do fitting flap hanging freely from a hit (3). On the inner side of the door, a v (4) can open to the atmosphere, but closed by a flap-valve.

In use, the door is pushed into I position (5) while a bin is emptied. r displaced by the ingoing door escapes the upper vent, opening the flap to so. When the door swings to the rig the flap closes and the slight suction created on the inside is sufficient to dr any dust back.
