THE leading article in the trlopthly Bulletin of Road Information for April, issued by the British Road Federation, deals with the Post-war Reconstruction Committee set up by the Federation.

It points out that this may be claimed, with justice, to be representative of all those concerned with the use and construction of roads, for the participation in the discussions by those two great bodies, the R.A.C. and the A.A., brings everybody around the table.

The Joint Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of War Transport, Mr. P. J. Noel-Baker, has assured the Federation that its proposals will be warmly welcomed by the Minister, The Government is to-day the largest operator of goods road vehicles, whilst remaining the authority responsible for the more important parts of our road system. It is necessary, therefore, that the Government should have available. when the time comes, the clarified opinion and studied recommendations of a committee -able to formulate principles and general proposals covering in effect the whole of mechanical transport on the roads and of the great industries that are linked up as more or less essential parts of this.

The Federation believes that failure to develop road transport would stultify almost all other schemes of material reconstruction that may be attempted.
