In the space at our disposal we can hardly include mention of every one, but we would call particular attention to the Solex radiator, in which the cooling fan is located directly in a nest of tubes. This accessory is being extensively used both in England and on the Continent, and many municipal authorities are very favourably impressed with its efficiency, having installed it on their public-service machines.

The Solex carburetter has also found favour with an enormous number of users.

For the requirements of the chassis builder, S. Wolf and Co., Ltd., markets the P.5.0, hall bearing, made to take either journal or end thrust. U.H. magnetos, by which the moment of sparking can be varied to about 30 degrees on the armature spindle, Sauser, E,yqueun and Tourist sparking plugs, and complete ranges ot tool kits suitable for any type of vehicle are also listed.

The quality of the cast iron utilized in the manufacture of cylinders, pistons, and piston rings has, of course,*considerable bearing on the efficiency of the engine. It is generally recognized that line closely-grained cast iron not only offers a smooth surface when finished, but is also conducive to long service of these component parts.

home and overScas use. • In order to provide for consistent carburation, the -Zenith people incorporate two jets :—A main one for supplying fuel under ordinary working conditions of the :machine, and a compensating jet for starting purposes or when running light. The two jets are disposed concentrically one within the other. The main jet, takes its supply direct from the float chamber, and the amount of petrol drawn through varies according to the requirements of the engine.

An up-to-date metallurgical laboratory is in constant use. Careful steel analyses are carried out, and only those com positions of metals best suited to the production of various kinds of power transmission are utilized in the manufacture. Specializing in minor details as well as the larger ones ensures to Wrigley customers consistent and uniform quality of machined parts. In addition to the manufacture of gearing, E. O. Wrigley and Co., Ltd., is marketing gearbox units ready for immediate installation on the chassis, front axles, steering sets, and rear axles, both for the touring and commercial types of machine. These latter important units have been placed on the market only after careful design and close supervision throughout each detail of manufacture. In the Wrigley gearbox, the shafts are kept very short and are of ample diameter, preventing whip, and thus tending towards silent service. All running mechanism is mounted on ball bearings. Either the three-speed or four-speed .variety of gearbox can be supplied. Special mention should be made of the Wrigley back axle, which has recently been marketed, and is suitable for instal lation on a commercial vehicle with a load capacity of about two tons. This axle has been adopted by ninny motor•omnibus manufacturers and makers of goods-transport machines. Accessibility is a feature, and the main casing is so constructed that on removal of the cover the main driving .mechanism

may be taken from the a.xle without recouise to' jacking:up the road wheels. The worm utilized'in the final drive is carefully hardened and accurately ground and highly polished, as are the teeth in the. special phosphor-bronze .worm wheel. All -Wrigley work is finished to Newell limits, and British standard automobile threads are used throughout.
